Please see the below information regarding various areas of the project:
Please be reminded that Arborfield Road will be closed from 21:00 hrs on Friday 20th January to 06:00 hrs on Monday 23rd January for drainage reinstatement and full depth carriageway reconstruction, near to the Magpie and Parrot public house.
Temporary traffic signals will be installed on Arborfield Road from 20:00 hrs on Friday 20th January to mobilise the equipment, allow the required marking out and therefore maximise our activities from 21:00 hrs to midnight.
Access to all residential and business properties will be available for the duration, although this may not be via your normal route.
Shinfield Road / Cutbush Lane Junction
Shortly before Christmas we were able to open the right turn out of Cutbush Lane onto Shinfield Road. However, at that time we did pre-warn residents that we would require further temporary closures of the right turn before the project is finished.
With this in mind, between 09:00 hrs on Monday 23rd January and 18:00 hrs on Thursday 26th January, we are being permitted to close the right-turn to carry out the permanent surfacing and provide a safe access to remedial works on the neighbouring islands. During this closure traffic will need to turn left out of Cutbush Lane and then return via the roundabout at Church Lane.
Cutbush Lane junction with ERR
We will be carrying out the final surfacing and road markings at the new Cutbush Lane (East) / SERR junction from 21:00 hrs on Monday 23rd January to 06:00 hrs on Tuesday 24th January. At this time Cutbush Lane will be fully closed from the point at which the new relief road crosses it towards the M4.
Residents / businesses requiring vehicular access overnight, or before 06:00 hrs on Tuesday morning, should park on the Shinfield side of the new relief road before 21:00 hrs on Monday. Pedestrians will need to be marshalled through the works and emergency services access will be maintained.
A further night-time closure is required and is currently planned for Tuesday 24th January; however, this has not yet been fully agreed. We will write to immediately impacted residents and businesses on Monday 23rd January to confirm whether this second closure is going ahead as described.
We will soon be carrying out work between Brookers Hill and the old M4 bridge, in the carriageway nearest to the Black Boy public house. Our work will involve full depth road reconstruction (up to 1 metre deep in places) final surfacing, kerbing re-alignment and white lining. To allow this work to take place, we are planning to switch traffic over onto the opposite carriageway on Friday 27th January. This arrangement will remain in place until the end of February.
Due to the nature of our activities and the machinery we need to use, some additional noise is likely to be experienced and, at times, we will unfortunately be working directly outside the properties facing onto Shinfield Road. Although we will always maintain vehicular access, residents/visitors of those properties may experience a slight delay if we need to move machinery or make the area safe for domestic vehicles. Access for pedestrians and cyclists visiting Shinfield Road properties will be maintained, however, for safety reasons the general public will be diverted over the new M4 bridge.
Near to the end of February we will need to close this section of Shinfield Road overnight to carry out the final surfacing and white lining. We will advise immediately impacted residents of the dates nearer the time and advance warning signs will be displayed.
