Locality Community Conversations

Shinfield Parish Council has commissioned Locality, a specialist organisation that works with local communities to help neighbourhoods thrive, to look at community facilities currently available in Spencers Wood. The Parish Council has asked them to consider what facilities will be required to meet the needs of the growing community.

Initially, Locality will be contacting groups that use the existing facilities and seeking their opinions on what needs to be done in this area. They will also take into account the re-opening of the Ryeish Green Sports Centre by Wokingham Borough Council, planned for July this year.

A public consultation event is scheduled for Wednesday 23rd May at Caf’ Active in St Michael’s Church, Spencers Wood. Details of times will be confirmed nearer the event. In the meantime, if you are a member of a group that uses facilities in Spencers Wood, and your group is not contacted by the end of March, but would like to be involved, please let us know at the parish office.

A copy of the questionnaire being put to the groups can be seen here: website questionnaire Locality

Household waste collections in adverse weather

We have received the following message from Wokingham Borough Council, regarding the weekly waste and recycling collections:

Due to adverse weather conditions we’ve unfortunately had to suspend collections with the safety of the collectors, residents and other road users in mind.

Our intention is to re-start collections on a catch-up basis and so the likelihood is that your next collection day will be delayed and could include a Saturday to help us catch up.

I would therefore be grateful if you could place your waste out as normal on your usual day. However, if we can’t get to you on that day please leave your waste out in the usual place and we will collect it as soon as possible.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

M4 Junction 10 to 11 River Loddon (Bridge Refurbishment) – Overnight closure on Tuesday 28 November

The scheme to replace the waterproofing material and expansion joints of the bridge which carries the M4 motorway over the River Loddon, between Junctions 10 and 11 in Berkshire has now commenced.

To allow the narrow lane traffic management to be installed on the M4  eastbound carriageway, there will be a full closure of the M4 from junction 11 to junction 10 overnight (between 11pm and 6am) on Tuesday 28 November.  The closure will be delayed to allow supporters at the Reading Football Club match to leave the stadium.

During the closure a clearly signed diversion will be in place via Lower Earley Way.
