There are a number of footpaths in the parish, and noticeboards around the parish showing footpath maps. Volunteers monitor the condition of the footpaths. The latest report on the state of the footpaths is available here.
Footpath 13 between Shinfield and Ryeish Green has been widened and resurfaced to serve as a dual pedestrian path and cycleway. It avoids Hyde End Road and is a much safer route for cyclists and pedestrians alike, especially children who are encouraged to use it if parents approve.
To help us judge the success of this upgrade, users are asked to make comment, good or bad, by e-mail to Ian Young.
The Shinfield Parish Volunteer Group have created six leaflets, each one about a different walk that you can do in the parish. The walks are generally short and not too taxing.
To complement the leaflets, they have also set up a number of notice boards at various sites around the parish. Each one displays a map on which all six walks are marked.
You can download the leaflets by clicking on the links below. Once you have the file open on your screen, either print it or save it to your PC.
Walk 3: Around Grazeley
Walk 6: Pearman’s Copse and Nores Hill
You can also get the walk leaflets from the Shinfield parish office, shops and other outlets. Please contact the parish office to check the nearest location to you.
There are also monthly guided walks in the parish that you can join. See the events calendar.
The following website lists free to download walks across Berkshire as well as details of books, maps and local walking groups in the county. See Walking in Berks for further details.
