About Phil

Phil has lived in Shinfield for over 32 years, married with two children. Phil worked in the management services department for Thames Water during its public and subsequently in the private ownership

Whilst working for Thames Water, Phil joined the Territorial Army, spending 7 years in Support Company of the 10th Battalion of the Parachute Regiment. During this period, Phil took part in the largest peacetime mobilisation, Exercise Lionheart in Germany and was fortunate to parachute in to Arnhem as part of the 10 Para pilgrimage marking the almost complete annihilation of the battalion in operation market garden.

Transitioning to IT field in the 90s Phil found himself outsourced to a large German based multi-national where he worked as an IT project Manager for over 10 years, taking early retirement in 2009.

Following retirement, Phil took on a number of voluntary roles, for 4 years he was Help for Heroes coordinator for Berkshire. In 2011 Phil trained to become an Audiology Volunteer for the Royal Berkshire Hospital, a role that provides basic hearing aid support to care homes and patients unable to access the Hospital drop-in clinics.

Phil was keen to join the Parish Council to further his aspirations of putting something back in to society and performing a vital civic duty that underpins the values of our heritage.
