ARE YOU REGISTERED TO VOTE?
This week, Wokingham Borough Council’s Acting Returning Officer Andrew Moulton is asking residents – are you registered to vote? Because if anyone hasn’t registered by midnight on Tuesday 26 November then they won’t be able to have their say at the general election on Thursday 12 December.

Andrew Moulton said: “The application process is quick and easy via: www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. The last day to apply to register in time for the general election on 12 December is midnight on Tuesday 26 November. Due to it being a snap election, it’s predicted there will a high volume of last minute online applications. In the majority of cases they will go through very quickly with no problem, but it is best to get in early just in case.”

As well as making sure they are registered to vote, electors are being asked to think about how they will vote. Not which party or candidate they will vote for, but whether they wish to vote by going to their local polling station or by some other method such as by post or proxy.

The last date to apply for a postal vote or to change an existing proxy vote is 5pm on Tuesday 26 November. The deadline for receiving new applications to vote by proxy is 5pm on Wednesday 4 December.
