Roadmap out of Lockdown

Roadmap out of lockdown

Central Government has announced a four-step plan to release England from lockdown. From Monday 8 March, the following changes will come into effect:

  • Two people can meet outdoors to socialise
  • Schools start to reopen to all ages
  • School run outdoor clubs can restart
  • Care home residents can have one regular visitor

Then, depending on the data, the following will come into effect from Monday 29 March:

  • Outdoor sports including football, golf and tennis will be allowed to resume
  • Two households, or six people, can meet outdoors in private gardens and public spaces

Before taking each step, the Government will review the latest data on the impact of the previous step against four tests. The four conditions that must be met at each phase of lockdown easing are:

  • The vaccine deployment programme continues successfully
  • Evidence shows vaccines are sufficiently effective in reducing hospitalisations and deaths in those vaccinated
  • Infection rates do not risk a surge in hospitalisations which would put unsustainable pressure on the NHS
  • The Government’s assessment of the risks is not fundamentally changed by new Variants of Concern

Until then, you must continue to follow the rules under the national lockdown. Stay at home as much as possible and only leave for a limited number of exceptions. For the full list of guidance, visit the Gov.uk website.
