On August the 4th, 2021 at Shinfield Baptist Church, the Shinfield Welcome Club were privilidged to hold a birthday tea in celebration of their longest serving member, Megan Shaw on her 100th birthday.
The celebration kicked off with her arrival to the sounds of Glen Miller’s ‘in the Mood’. The tea was enjoyed by twenty four members of the club with Megan and her family as the guest of honour. Tunes from Megan’s birth year and selections from the following decades made for a nostalgic afternoon.
Megan has been a member of the Welcome Club since the seventies and the second longest member, Mavis Rayner performed a ceremonial crowning to mark the wondrous occasion.
Many of the attendees have been witness to several birthday Celebrations starting with Megan’s birthday on the 23rd of July.
