On behalf of the Wokingham District Beekeeping Association please stay alert and report any sightings of the Yellow-Legged Hornet, a major predator of bees.
Why it matters 
It hunts bees directly: yellow-legged hornets often wait outside hives and catch worker bees as they come and go.
It weakens colonies: when bees are constantly under attack, they spend less time foraging for nectar and pollen.
It can reduce pollination: fewer healthy bees means less pollination for gardens, crops, and wild plants.
It spreads quickly: if nests are not found early, the population can grow and become much harder to control.
It affects beekeepers and biodiversity: losses can hurt local beekeeping and also disrupt the wider ecosystem.
