Repair Café moved to Lambs Lane Primary School (from Sunday 20th August)

Spencers Wood Repair Cafe

We have moved!

Spencers Wood Repair Cafe has moved to Lambs Lane Primary School, Back Lane, Spencers Wood RG7 1PW.

Why has the Repair Cafe moved location?

Due to the fantastic support that we have received over the past 15 months we needed a larger hall to host our volunteers and visitors safely. Lambs Lane School will provide us with the hall and improved parking facilities.

Will I still be able to get my household items repaired at no charge?

Yes, of course. Our ethos is to reduce, reuse, recycle so we will not be charging. The Repair Cafe is run by volunteers and there are no paid staff. We will be hiring the school hall and plan to work with engaging young people to help and learn from the Repair Cafe so do appreciate donations.

Will there still be a Cafe and Book Shop?

We do encourage our visitors to actively take part in the repair and learn from our volunteers but if you would prefer to just have some refreshments while you wait or browse through books, we do have a cafe with teas/coffees soft drinks and cakes. There is no need to bring items to use the cafe.

Is Spencers Wood Repair Cafe a Charity?

We have been registered with the Repair Cafe organisation since May 2022 and can be found on their website.

https://www.repaircafe.org/en/

We are community group our constitution aims are:

1  Create an active welcoming friendly community of volunteers and customers with the purpose of reusing items rather than sending them to landfill.

2 Reduce landfill by encouraging the local community to bring household items that need repairing to Repair Café sessions.

3  Engage young people by transferring skills from more experienced members in the form or workshops, apprenticeships, and reaching out to local schools or community groups.

What can you fix?

Our volunteers have a variety of skills, and we will look at any household items that you can carry and need repairing For a complete list of what our skilled volunteers can fix or advise on fixing please visit our website.
