We are sharing an update on two major planning applications in Shinfield. Our full, detailed responses are available below.
Loddon Garden Village (Planning Application 252498)
Site: Hall Farm, Church Lane, Arborfield, Reading, RG2 9HX (Loddon Garden Village)
Shinfield Parish Council agreed an extension with Wokingham Borough Council until 20th March, giving us time to bring in planning and transport specialists and prepare a thorough, evidence-based response to the Loddon Garden Village application (252498).
Our approach to planning applications is constructive: we look closely at each proposal and set out the changes and safeguards that would be needed for it to be acceptable locally. In this case, we’ve identified a number of areas where the current plans need significant improvement, and our full comments are available via the link.
We’re also asking for a developer-funded Monitoring Officer, shared between the effected parish and town councils, to support the parish and town councils directly affected by this project, providing clear oversight so that any agreed commitments are tracked and delivered.
Body’s Farm (Planning Application 250517)
Site: Land Off Basingstoke Road, To the south and west of Spencers Wood (Body’s Farm)
In April 2025, Shinfield Parish Council submitted a detailed response outlining our concerns regarding the proposed development. Following the submission of revised plans, the Council has carefully reviewed the changes and has reiterated its position.
