“In collaboration with St. Mary’s C of E Primary School, the University is facilitating the provision of an outdoor, meadow classroom. During consultation with the school, the one wish that was voiced by the children was to have a wildlife pond. Work has been in progress for a few months, erecting fences, forming a teaching circle of benches, installing bird boxes, hedgehog homes and a bug hotel. Trees have been planted and currently the wildlife pond is under construction. The pond will be accessible to the public and the space is due to be opened on National Meadows Day, Saturday 6 July.”
